The Ray of Light Atelier, at the Loris

Malaguzzi International Centre in Reggio

Emilia, is a place for research,

experimentation and immersion in an

environment open to children of all ages,

adults, parents and families.

In the Atelier, light in its various

forms can be investigated through

explorations that inspire wonder and

curiosity and stimulate creativity and

deeper inquiry.

It is also a place for conducting

research into new ways of teaching

science.

The project originated from a

collaboration between the pedagogical

experience of the Municipal Infant-toddler

Centres and Preschools of Reggio Emilia

and the Department of Engineering Science

and Methods of the School of Engineering

at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia.

The Atelier proposes educational

experiences for schools of all levels,

Sundays open to families, guided visits

and hands-on workshops.
